A Simpler Peace

We all wander through this life always looking, always searching, but what are we searching for?
Everyone I know is always looking for the next best thing, that shines better, works better, does better.
Is there really any such thing that can do that?
Or is it just something people are looking for, because they feel they are missing something in their lives?

Have we come so far in the last few years that it all seems to be about what you have, or what you acquire?
My best friend just traded in her vehicle because it was 5 years old and it didn’t look new anymore?
That makes no sense to me at all, her vehicle was fine, low mileage but it didnt have all the super fancy bells
and whistles as the newer cars,  and she felt entitled to get a new one because she can afford it?

I have a 4 yr old SUV, very low mileage, but necessary for the north where I live and I have a big dog
that goes everywhere with us. This vehicle fits me perfectly and gets me everywhere safely.
It may not have a  fancy sunroof ,or state of the art GPS system but it has what I need and I enjoy driving it.
It is very safe, extremely reliable and I am happy with my choice, it is enough for me.

I am content to sit at home, the wind howling outside, snow falling, and just be.
Watching a movie with my daughter, playing on my computer drinking hot chocolate is enough for me.
I am grateful for the fact, my house is warm, we are fed, and healthy and happy.

I have learned over the years, that no matter what me may acquire, it will never be enough.
When you start looking at what you do have and be grateful for every little thing, life looks different.
When you are happy with what you do have, things are more calm, more peaceful..
I struggled for many years to find this simple abundance principle, but if you approach the world from
an attitude of gratitude for the simple things, then life is so much easier and happier..
