Simple Things
Sometimes the simple things in life are really the best..
With summer just around the corner I decided to do some flower planting today.
I was supposed to take my daughter to the mall to go shopping for some summer clothes.
However the preteen decided to play Jekyll and Hyde today so mommy decided forget it.
We are going to go to the mall another day when her attitude improved..
After sulking half the day, she decided to join my boyfriend and I outside.
I think her curiousity got the best of her and she came out to help weed the flower beds.
I have never seen a kid get so excited about planting some flowers…
We had a few bedding plants to transplant, and a whole bunch of seeds that she had picked out..
She got right in there, digging, trying to supervise and arranging seeds in the order,
that she wanted them all planted in. Just having fun and working with us at the same time..
Fast forward an hour later and all the stuff was done and seeds planted, and garden watered.
She said to me on by the way, I was supposed to go hang out at my best friends house but
decided to stay here with you guys and plant some flowers, it’s a lot more fun!!
Wow, you could have knocked me over with a feather… Is that my almost 12 yr old daughter talking?
The same child who the day before got mad at me becuase I told her spending over $100 to go to the fair for the three of us was way out of the budget?
After a bit of coaxing, the truth came out, she enjoyed being with us, doing stuff, just family time.
Well to me that’s normal, you have kids, and need to get stuff done, they can help out.
According to my daughter it seems that a lot of todays parents, do everything they can to Not
spend a lot of time with their kids.. It seems the tv and computer have become surrogate parents.
Today’s parents are working so hard to keep up with the Jones’s that they are too tired when they get home to spend any time with their own children.
Wake up folks, we are rasing the next generation here, teach them the things our parents taught us.
It seems that my old fashioned ways are not so bad at all according to my daughter.
She likes it when we all sit down as a family every nite at the kitchen table and eat dinner and
talk about our day and all the stuff that is going on in our lives..
All electronics are turned off and we just focus on the 3 of us, and nothing else..
She still has chores to do, rules that must be obeyed, and priveleges are earned.
Seems my old fashioned ways are not so bad after all, she is growing up to be a very caring young lady.
So happy to see another entry. These are priceless and I love them!
