I have been making it a point lately of really observing people as I have been out and about and I’m feeling dejected at what I see..
My cell phone contract had run out so I was at the store picking out a new cellphone and plan, and overheard a conversations between a teen girl and her mom that made me shake my head..
Now I know that not everyone thinks like me, but this girl was trying to get her mother to buy her a cellphone that would cost $200 extra over the plan costs, and her mom kept on telling her no. The teenagers response was, but I deserve it, because I’m cool..
Omg, I just about started laughing…
Do today”s children really think they deserve all these things just because?
Whatever happened to working for the extra money to pay for the phone, or settling for a decent phone, does it always have to be the top of the line on everything?
What kind of message do we send out kids if we give in to what they want or pacify them by giving them things just to keep them quiet. The only way for them to learn the value of things, and how to get somewhere in life is to work for it…
Things do not get handed to you on a silver platter just because you’re cool?
I sincerely feel sorry for this teenager, when she grows up and is an adult on her own, she will find that life is not going to drop whatever she wants in her lap!!
